Tea

Inrtoduction : Tea is a very popular drink in our country. It is the dried leaves of a plant. It grows from its seed. It was first grown in China. Now it grows in many countries of the world. It is one of the cash crops of Bangadesh.

Where grown : Tea grows best in hot and most climate. It requires heavy rainfall but it cannot grow in water. So the slopes of hills and mountains are her best places for its cultivation.

How planted and gathered : The tea-plants are planted in rows. They are not allowed to grow more than five feet. They are regularly pruned. When tea plants are four years old, leaves and buds are taken from them. There are four pickings a year. Young leaves and buds make the best kind of tea. They are gathered by hand. They are dried in the air and heated on fire. Then it is packed and sent to the market.

Preparation of the drink : Preparation of tea is very simple. Some quantity of tea-leaves is kept in boiling water for three to five minutes. Sugar and milk are then mixed with it. Then it becomes a drink.

Usefulness : Tea is very helpful for the people of cold countries. It refreshes our body and mind. It is used for making dyes. Bangladesh earns a lot of foreign currency by exporting tea.

Demerits : Taking tea too much is harmful for our body. It can break our regular sleep.

Conclusion : Tea is now used in all parts of the world. It is a common drink. But it is not always good for the people of hot countries. It kills hunger. So too much of it is bad for health.
